Charles has been commissioned to develop a creativity index for Bilbao and the Bizkaia region as a means of measuring their innovative capacity


2009 will see Charles visit Helsinki, Amsterdam, Brisbane, Bilbao, Tel-Aviv, Toronto, Seoul, Tirana, Newcastle-Gateshead, Manchester, Halifax Nova Scotia, Perth.


Charles will be running master classes in Maastricht and Bilbao.


Charles is writing another book on why the current problems are an opportunity for cities to rethink their potential.


In the first two months of 2009, Charles Landry has given talks in Almere, the Netherlands, Shenzhen, Hong Kong Maastricht, Tilburg and Manchester.


Manchester has commissioned Charles to assess how The Oxford Road Corridor, Manchester's knowledge hub, can be improved.

Thames Gateway: Helping to create the overarching development story for London's major expansion area.
Penang and George Town Transformation Programme: Developing concepts to help Khazanah Nasional Berhad, the investment holding arm of the Malaysian Government, move from low-cost manufacturing and mass tourism to knowledge intensive industries and high value tourism.
Bilbao – developing a creativity index and assessing the level of creativity and innovation in Bilbao and the Bizkaia region exemplified by case studies from within small and large companies, learning institutions, the public administration and the cultural scene. 2009
Manchester – helping to create an investment prospectus and marketing story for the city's knowledge hub, The Corridor. This is a centre of wide-ranging research and has Europe's largest concentration of students of over 70,000.
Maastricht – Co-curating one of Europe's signature events for the European Union's Year of Creativity & Innovation.
Shenzhen – Assisting the city recently nominated as one of Unesco's cities of design to position itself globally.
Seoul - jury member of the International Design Competition for Seoul YongSan Park.

Talks currently scheduled include: Freiburg in Germany the board of economic advisors of the city; Maastricht, the European Fine Art Foundation; Comprehensive creativity forum, Espoo, Finland; the Festival of Ideas, Brisbane, 100th anniversary of Tel-Aviv celebrations, Halifax Nova Scotia, economic development and cultural department event, Amsterdam Redevco 10th anniversary event, Provada, real estate green forum organized by Triodos Bank, Tilburg 200th anniversary event Comeback Cities, Artscape Toronto.
